Upload guide: what photo works best

The photo that works best is a close-up, front-facing photo of you alone, with your face large in the frame and your eyes looking straight at the camera.

• One person only: Upload only yourself, with no second person and no group photo in the frame.
• Pose and framing: Use a head-and-shoulders or upper-body close-up, like a close selfie. Your face should fill the upper part of the frame. Do not use a standing full-body photo or a distant photo — this template is shot as a first-person close-up, so a distant body gives the model almost no face to work with.
• Eyes: Keep your eyes open and looking at the camera, with no sunglasses and no hair falling over your eyes. The whole scene is built around eye contact with the camera.
• Mouth: Keep your mouth area clear, with no mask, hand, or phone covering your lips. The action is centred on your mouth, so the model needs a clear mouth shape to animate.
• Light and sharpness: Pick a sharp, recent, high-resolution image with even, bright light on your face. Avoid dark rooms, motion blur, screenshots with bars and buttons, pictures of a screen, and filters that change the shape of your face.
• Outfit: Wear the outfit you want to see in the result. This template carries over the outfit from your own photo, so choose it deliberately — including a top you like, and also including a jacket or covered shoulders, which will carry over too.
• Avoid: standing full-body shots, back views, side-profile-only photos, faces small in the frame, dark or blurry photos, and group selfies.
